thank you! :)

"I bought one of the beautiful button necklaces on the weekend (the red one) and I wore it to work today to funk up my boringly corporate outfit. I have had SO MANY comments, everyone LOVED it - beautiful work Jessica! I am definately coming back to stock up for Christmas - have a request from both my sister and my best friend. Gorgeous!"

A big thank you to Kate for this lovely message! :)

What a big weekend is was yet again! I am looking forward to a bit of a break over Christams/New Year, so this weekend Friday 18th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th will be Good Boy Cracky's final one for 2009!! But never fear, we will be back bigger and better in 2010! I have some big plans for the label including the online store and a frequently posted blog with many inspiring images and stories for all to see. I'm very excited!!
Don't forget the extended trading hours for this weekend friday 10am-10pm, saturday 10am- 9pm and sunday 9-5pm.

I have been a bit slack with updating with pics of what's new for the week, so I'll try to get on top of that! I'm off to make and creat now so stay tuned for those photos!

Over and out.

hi there...

Well, what a weekend it was! Busy, busy, busy and successful! We had an extra day (sunday) at the markets to sell our wares and to entice Sam and I to add the extra day to the routine, weekly schedule! It worked..! So, until Christmas, Good Boy Cracky will be at the Southbank Markets Friday night, Saturday AND Sunday! Come one, come all! There will also be extended trading hours for the week of the 18th Dec: Friday 10-10pm and Saturday 10 - 9pm. Sunday is 9-5pm, as normal.

I had some new stock for sale this weekend - debuting were vintage button necklaces in various colours - and they were a hit! :D I will upload some pics later this week to show what colours are available. I've also got new designs for hair clips and brooches which I will also post pics for when they are completed. The clutch bags and phone cases will have some lovely new fabric choices too! So much to be inspired by and I don't have the time to do it all!

I got to see the stalls at the Young Designers Market on Sunday. I will be sure to sign up for that for 2010... so many crafty people out there... it's a great community. I especially liked Lauren Carney's work. See her website here. Her drawings are gorgeous!

Must be off to bed now... tired eyes... it's getting harder to keep them open...
G'night....

Ethikl has the scoop on GBC

This weekend I met Peita who is from Ethikl, an online store for  "SMALL ARTISAN PRODUCERS WHO USE ORGANIC, NATURAL, OR RECYCLED INGREDIENTS OR MAKE THEIR PRODUCTS BY HAND AND HAVE LIMITED EXPOSURE. ONE OF THE MAIN AIMS OF ETHIKL IS PROMOTE AND SUPPORT THE ETHICAL CONSUMER MOVEMENT AND ENCOURAGE SHOPPERS TO MAKE POSITIVE BUYING DECISIONS, SUCH AS FAVORING ETHICAL PRODUCTS, BE THEY FAIR TRADE, CRUELTY FREE, ORGANIC, RECYCLED, HANDMADE, OR PRODUCED LOCALLY."

Good Boy Cracky got a mention and a photo! See it here

It was a successful weekend, but damn, was it hot!?! I was glued to my fan and was changing from thongs (cool on my feet) to my keen shoes (closed in, but the support I need to stand all day!) No sexy sweat was seen here, Evelyn!! haha! I was dying to get home to the air con!
I have to keep busy and focused in the lead-up to Christmas... so much to make and stock to replenish! Plus I am still researching online stores... It's all go go go!

Feeling floral?

This week has been focused on flowers and Christmas! There are 2 kinds of flowers avaiable, as well as Santa hats and elf shoes (adding to the Xmas trees and Xmas pudding already for sale). The Santa hats and elf shoe will be for sale as clips and brooches. I also have more cats and apple trees as brooches this week.

I have a new design for the phone cases to unveil. Still similar in style but with a new finishing at the top. A big thanks goes to my logistics manager, Sam for his expertise in case design! :D

I am still working on my online shop... perhaps going into both madeit.com.au as well as having a shop on my website. A lot of decisions still to be made, so stay tuned!

In other news, I have discovered "keep cup" which I am very excited about. Please visit www.keepcup.com.au. Merlo coffee have them as a promotion now, as well as Brother Espresso. Come one, come all to use the reusable coffee cup!!! A keep cup of my own is on my Xmas wish list, along with some cooking books! So far, Jamie Oliver's: America is on there... and also a new book called "She's leaving home" which is a collection of much loved family recipes for a daughter who is leaving home for the big, wide world.

Time for bed now... it's been a massive day!
Bon nuit!

Ahoi hoi!

Hi! Sorry for the delayed posts... it has been a massive week! Whew!! I have been so busy at work during the day and working on crafty goodness at night for the weekend markets. But the BIGGEST news is that I am finally creating an online shop on madeit.com.au! Yippee!! It should be ready by the end of this week, so stay tuned! I'd love for any suggestions, so please drop me a line!

I'm off to tackle my 'to-do' list!! Ciao!

Hola! ....New this week!

Here are some new designs craftily created by my nifty lil' hands!

Teeth and mushroom                                                                           Xmas trees and xmas pud!

cactus, quirky bird, squirrel, owl, horse (my fave!) and babuska

New phone/camera cases. I love the brown, cream and red one!

I've had great fun this week, designing all the new hair clips and also making some into brooches! I've felt inspired by so many blogs and pictures and websites... it 's been hard to focus on one task at a time.. You know, when you're mind is in such a creative spin that it can feel overwhelming?!
Anyhow, this week, you can find a lot of these felt lovelies in both hair clip and brooch options :D

I'm getting in the Christmas spirit early this year and this is strange for me..(I usually leave gift buying to the last minute!) but I am really enjoying it... I'd love to have a white Christmas again soon..... ahh..... hot roast with mulled wine and snow gently falling outside is the best! This year, I'll be having yummy seafood and salad.. not too shabby either! ;P mmmmmm..... prawns and moreton bay bugs galore!

On another note, I received an Amazon Kindle for my anniversary/xmas pressie and it is brilliant! I highly recommend it! So easy to read and the e-ink is great technology. Check it out.

Come by and say hi this weekend :) Over and out.

Cracky and I have been working hard!

Look at him... such a poser! Here we are finishing off some hair clips for the weekend...
and below is Crackers and Luca relaxing. Luca has her "summer" coat. She's nice and cool and snuggly in the Love Sac. They're great friends! haha

I am feeling really inspired today and want to really get into some new designs for hair clips and brooches! Watch this space for the previews.....

Also...
I had another great week at the markets... although the threat of rain did keep some peeps away on the friday night. That is the nature of having an outdoor stall! Sam and I were saturated as the rain fell heavily as we were closing up that night... Fun! :P

I have to credit some blogs for inspiring me today and everyday through my google reader account. Maybe you could check out their craftiness also...

ciao :D

weekend away..

Last night Good Boy Cracky was ready to rock at the Lifestyle Markets thanks to lovely Poppy, Dan and Chris - they did a fantastic job. Thank you so much! GBC is only selling on friday night this weekend as I'm currently off on a mini-break (love that word) in Montville celebrating my 5 year anniversary with my beautiful, boy, Sam (who is snoozing beside me).  So far it has been very relaxing... and just what the doctor ordered. It has been a massive 8 weeks of busy-ness and hard work mixed with a little anxiety! We are enjoying the quiet time, along with some delicious food! The Eumundi Markets provided Spanish tapas for lunch (cuttlefish! and cous cous and a tasting platter) and I made some great purchases. I was very inspired by some of the stall holder's wares :) I also stumbled upon a wonderful vintage store on the main street that had original glo-mesh clutches! I had to had one (it'll be an heirloom one day!) - a gorgeous bronze one - in its original box! :) :) :) Joy!

Now I think it's time for a nap on the king sized bed after a yummy cup of tea. Then a walk and some more delicious food for dinner!

....I'm enjoying myself so much... do I really have to go back to work on Monday?! :(

Major Success! :D :D :D

What a weekend! I had an amazing response from the markets which was so exciting! The hair clips and the earrings were the biggest sellers - I even had to duck away for 3 hours to make more! I cannot thank Sam enough for all his hard work and fantastic sales skills! Also a big thank you to Joe and Katy and Chris - you were all so generous with your time and I am very grateful. Now I'm off to make some more designs for next weekend... I have some great ideas for new hair clips. It's all very exciting!

Check out Taryn Simon. Appearing on a TED talk she is an amazing photographer and I am going to try and see her at IMA! Blurb below is from the TED site:

Taryn Simon exhibits her startling take on photography -- to reveal worlds and people we would never see otherwise. She shares two projects: one documents otherworldly locations typically kept secret from the public, the other involves haunting portraits of men convicted for crimes they did not commit.

Quirky Tavi..

tavi.jpg
Tavi Gevinson is a quirky 13 year old who's blog has generated a major buzz amongst the fashion world. She writes her own views about current trends and is surprisingly articulate and mature for such a young girl! She was invited to NY fashion week this year (jealous!) and is currently finishing reviews of some of the designer's work. Check out the video of her dancing.... interesting! Oh, but what a future she's going to have...!

Inspiring me today....

Progress on the logo front :)

Yay! This morning, my sister and I were brainstorming for the business card design and logo and we came up with some creative and innovative ideas. I'm very excited about finishing the final draft and then it going on to print. It's going to be awesome! Stay tuned...
This afternoon I am cutting out patterns for some clutch bags and while I'm working, I'm watching America's next top model!! It's so bad, but so good at the same time! Guilty pleasure! :P

A sample of iphone cases I've been working on. I've found some great new material, so images of the new colours/patterns will be posted shortly!

Target acquired!

Hello there and welcome to Good Boy Cracky! I am thrilled to announce that all systems are go for my label, with a predicted start at weekend markets on the 2nd October! I am waiting on application approval from the Southbank Markets, so stay tuned for the official news!

So a little about me... I am a florist that has recently been swept up into the creative and fun world of sewing and craft world. Towards the start of this year, I was creating hair clips made from felt (for myself initially). I got a lot of great responses from friends and family wanting some of their own. From this, my brain started to tick over about getting more serious about selling my wares. I was not creatively satisfied with floristry during this time and my instincts were pulling me in the direction of all things textile! It has been a big decision to move away from the flower industry, but I have decided to "follow my bliss" for the time being and see where this path will take me! C'est le moment ou jamais!

From the hair clips stemmed the idea of making iphone cases (as some that are available in the shops lack a little personality), earrings and cute lil' clutch bags! I'm also designing bracelets and brooches.
I am getting used to doing a blog and will hopefully manage to upload some images in this post!

Good Boy Cracky is designed for those who seek unique, fun and quirky accessories largely made from recycled materials (including tea towels, buttons and pillow cases). I hope you enjoy them and please, stop by again soon! :p
